Cas9
This is a type of protein which then protects the DNA from certain bacteria. It is heavily used in genetic engineering application or gene editing where the DNA can be cut and altered.

Pertaining to the bones in upper spine and neck
CGH Array
A method of examining regions of DNA to identify extra or missing pieces of chromosomal material ranging in size from a whole chromosome to a tiny piece. Targeted CGH arrays can be used to test for deletions and duplications within the CMD gene.
CMD
Congenital Muscular Dystrophy
CMD Subtype
A unique muscle disorder under the umbrella term "CMD" - meaning congenital muscular dystrophy or congenital muscle disease.
CO2 retention
The increased body storage of carbon dioxide redulting from impaired carbon dioxide elimination.
Cognition
Cognition is the process of knowing and, more precisely, the process of being aware, knowing, thinking, learning and judging. Some types of CMD do not affect cognition, other types of CMD may impair cognitive abilities.
COL6
A CMD Subtype that results from gene defects affecting the production of collagen type 6 protein in the extracellular matrix of the muscle.
Collagen VI
A CMD Subtype that results from gene defects affecting the production of collagen type 6 protein in the extracellular matrix of the muscle.
Composite Motor Skills
A way of measuring several different types of motor skills, such as handwriting and eating, and putting these measurements together to see how various aspects of a person’s motor skills are doing overall.
Concentric Exercise
The shortening of muscle as it acts against resistive force (like a weight). For example, during a biceps curl, the biceps contract concentrically during the lifting phase of the exercise.
